The Harney Science Building at University of San Francisco is comprised of classrooms, laboratories, and faculty offices for the University’s College of Arts and Sciences. The building is five stories tall and separated into two wings, spanning a total of 90,000 square feet. The Harney Science Building was built in 1965 and in keeping up with increased enrollment and technology advances has gone under several renovations.
Timmons Design Engineers was commissioned to audit the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the Harney Science Building and determine if any upgrades, modifications or replacements are required. TDE performed several site visits to the USF campus to attain a full understanding of the MEP systems serving the building. Keeping sustainable design and cost effectiveness as driving factors TDE provided the University with a Due Diligence Report for the Harney Science Building. In the report all of the existing MEP systems were investigated and documented and recommendations were provided to improve the existing systems and resolve associated MEP and fire alarm code violations.
