The Student Services Center at Monterey Peninsula College is a state of the art facility totaling 19,000 gross square feet.  TDE provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and sustainable engineering design services for the new student services building project located in Monterey, California. The development comprises of a two-story building that will house Administration and Records, Conference Room, Counseling, Career/Transfer/Job Center, Financial Aid, International Student Program, Testing Center, Cal/Works, EOPS, TRIO Program, Support Services, Staff Lounge, Restrooms, Storage, Electrical/Data/Mechanical rooms, and Janitor Closet. 

This project utilizes natural resources and site layout to reduce site impact.  Mechanical and electrical systems were designed with energy efficiency as the driving objective.  Sustainable building practices also led to focus on passive building systems, such as natural ventilation.  The lighting system consisted of a selection of energy efficient luminaires that housed either T5 lamps or compact fluorescent lamps, which have better lumen outputs and longer lamp life than the decorative incandescent lamp.  Therefore, a lesser overall quantity of luminaries was needed.
