TDE is providing Mechanical, Plumbing and Sustainable design for the new Performing Arts Center at City College of San Francisco. The new PAC is a 100,000 square foot building serving the Performing Arts and Music programs. The proposed development site is between the Joint Use and Advanced Technology buildings scheduled for future development on the Reservoir site adjacent to the current campus. The new center is comprised of three main performance spaces; a 650-seat proscenium auditorium, a 150-seat music recital hall, and 150-seat studio (black box) theater.
The development will also include a lobby for the 650-seat auditorium, box office, concessions, storage areas, faculty offices, classrooms, restrooms, dressing rooms, costume shop/office/storage, rehearsal room, catering kitchen, green room, practice rooms, and resource center. The mechanical systems will be designed to maximize passive systems such as natural ventilation and thermal mass. Mechanical systems will consist of radiant systems supplemented with a displacement ventilation system for peak demand. Heating hot water and chilled water will be provided by a Geothermal Central Plant also being designed by TDE. Additional sustainable features include daylighting, green roof, and an emphasis on water efficiency utilizing waterless urinals and dual flush toilets. The building will be designed to achieve a LEED Silver rating.
